El Rincón de Carmen

El Rincón de Carmen is in the Judería, in the maze of lanes around the Mezquita, and it is built around a genuine Córdoba patio. If you ask us where to eat in Córdoba, this is the first name out of our mouths.

Our rating: ★★★★★ (5 out of 5)

We ate here four or five times, maybe more, simply because everything is so good. The meat is the star: well seasoned, nicely salted and cooked exactly right. The staff are lovely and friendly, the atmosphere is great, and one evening in the patio turned into one of the most fun nights we had in Córdoba. Fantastic, in a word, and a firm recommendation.

The location helps too: it is in the historic centre, close to the Mezquita, so it is easy to fit in after a day of sightseeing.

What to order

• The meat dishes: well seasoned and perfectly cooked
• The seared tuna with sesame, served on a slate plate with grilled vegetables and sauces

Good to know

• Ask for a table in the patio: it is the best part of the evening
• Book ahead for dinner, since it is popular and close to the Mezquita
