Groceries

Everyday shopping is where you notice you are really living somewhere. Here is where we shopped in Córdoba, and the day I accidentally ordered 300 kilos of chicken.

My experience

These notes are from our months living in Córdoba.

Where we shopped

For quick shopping we used Piedra, simply because it was close to our apartment. When we needed a bigger shop for a few days, Mercadona was our favourite: it is where we went whenever we stocked up. For fresh food and a more social shop, there is also the food hall Mercado Victoria.

My chicken mishap

A small story from the counter at Piedra. With my limited Spanish, I once accidentally ordered 300 kilos of chicken instead of 300 grams. The person who helped me burst out laughing, and I suspect they had a very good day because of it. A good reminder to double-check your numbers in Spanish, and a good example of how patient and good-humoured people are here.

Living here

Shopping is part of the daily rhythm: breakfast at Roldán, groceries on the way home, a bike ride to the padel court. See living in Córdoba and what it costs.
