El Mirador de la Breña

El Mirador de la Breña is a chiringuito, a casual bar-restaurant, on the banks of the La Breña II reservoir near Almodóvar del Río. The local tourism office describes it as a restaurant with grilled meats, coffees, drinks and cocktails and a large terrace. The reservoir itself is about 24 kilometres from Córdoba, according to the Spanish tourism site Spain.info (checked on 3 October 2026), so it is an easy escape from the city.

Our verdict

We took our photos here on a trip out of the city, and they show why people come: pallet seating on a terrace right by the water, boats moored below a red-brown hillside and a wide view across the reservoir. It is the opposite of a formal restaurant, and exactly what you want on a warm day when the old town gets too hot: see our guide to Córdoba in summer.

Online reviews of the place are mixed: some praise the sunset views and the grilled meat, others the service, so go for the setting and the relaxed pace rather than for a polished meal.
